Beta Progress: Building Something Special Together
Beta Progress: Building Something Special Together
Two months into beta, and we're blown away by what this community has accomplished.
TL;DR
- Thousands of active beta users creating games, characters, and animations daily
- Major features shipped: Plan Mode, Animation Alignment Tool, Game Export, Quick Actions, and more
- First paying customers: Some of you have topped up credits - thank you for believing in us
- Early Q1 2026 launch: We're targeting a full public release in the next few weeks
The Numbers That Matter
Since launching beta in October, we've grown to several thousand active users. But more important than the number is what you're all building - platformers, RPGs, puzzle games, visual novels, and things we never imagined. Every day we see projects that push the boundaries of what AI-assisted game development can do.
What We've Shipped
Looking back at our changelog, it's been a busy two months:
AI & Workflow
- Plan Mode - Structured AI workflow for complex projects with automatic checkpoints
- Quick Actions - Template library for common tasks (add characters, assign controls, debug errors)
- Multi-provider AI - Choose between GLM 4.6, DeepSeek V3.2, Kimi K2, and Minimax M2
- Smarter prompts - Dramatically improved AI reasoning and response quality
Sprite Studio
- Animation Alignment Tool - Fine-tune anchors, hitboxes, and scale per animation
- Background generation - Non-blocking animation creation so you can keep working
- Multi-frame editing - Batch operations with Ctrl/Shift selection
- Frame export improvements - Simpler output scaling options
Platform
- Game Export - Download published games as standalone HTML files
- Better error debugging - Collapsible panel with go-to-line navigation
- Faster load times - 83% fewer API calls on editor load
- Auto-update detection - Know when to refresh for the latest features
First Paying Customers
We hit a meaningful milestone: our first users topped up credits.
To those of you who made that leap - thank you. Your support means more than the credits themselves. It's validation that we're building something worth paying for, and it helps us keep the lights on while we figure out the right model for everyone.
What's Next: Early Q1 Launch
We're targeting an early Q1 2026 exit from beta. That means in the next few weeks, we'll be finalizing our pricing and preparing for a full public launch.
We're deep in cost analysis right now, working through how to bring Makko to market in a way that's:
- Accessible - We want hobbyists and indie devs to afford this
- Sustainable - We need to cover AI infrastructure costs
- Fair - Power users should get value, casual users shouldn't feel locked out
Running state-of-the-art AI models isn't cheap, and we're committed to being transparent about that. We're exploring different pricing tiers, daily allowances, and package options. When we have something concrete, you'll be the first to know.
Thank You
Every bug report, feature request, and Discord message helps us build a better product. Every game you publish shows us what's possible. Every piece of feedback shapes our roadmap.
We're not just building a tool - we're building it with you.
Here's to the next chapter.
